Unexpected Finds at the Library

We offer a number of non-media items for checkout for registered card holders.  To borrow any of the items from this list, your account needs to be current with no overdue or lost items. The list below is far from everything we have at the library! Stop in to see for yourself.  Also borrow any of our toys, board games, and flash cards!

Ready to try a new hobby? Don’t spend money before you know if you’re going to like it!

Our woodcarving kit comes with a variety of hand tools, a basic woodcarving technique book, and cut-proof gloves in two sizes. All you need to do is provide the small pieces of wood you want to carve!

Counting Coins and Money Management Kit

This box contains everything you need to introduce kids to saving, investing, and basic money management. The kit contains 4 easy to read books, paper and plastic money for practice, and a variety of activities to learn how to count money, understand price tags, and make change.

Erector Meccano Set

Build 1 of 25 different construction vehicles (models can be built one at a time). parts can be used to rebuild a helicopter, a buggy crane and much more or kids can mix match pieces for an original design. This kit was added to the library thanks to generous funding from the Science Kits for Public Libraries program sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Region 4.

Snap Circuits

With no tools needed and its easy-to-follow instructions, Snap Circuits gives your child a hands-on education in how electrical circuits work to run the everyday devices that they’re familiar with. This kit was added to the library thanks to generous funding from the Science Kits for Public Libraries program sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Region 4.

Telling Time Practice Kit

Everything your little learner needs to practice reading an analog clock comes in this kit! Practice clock, flashcards with time activities, time dice, and books on the importance of reading clocks are included! 

Portable DVD Player

Watch DVDs on the go with this portable DVD Player. Included in the box is a headrest case for watching in the car. There are also power cords for a standard wall outlet and round car outlets, cords to connect the DVD player to your TV, a remote, and a user guide. Dual headphone jacks allow you to plug in headphones for up to two watchers or use the built-in external speakers for the whole crowd to enjoy the movie.

Boat Engineer Storybook Kit

This kit comes in a plastic tub and contains a picture encyclopedia of different classic cars, 2 model cars for you to touch and hold, the movie Grease, and a large piece puzzle.  This kit was specifically designed to meet the needs of people with age-related memory loss.

Voice Recording Kit

This kit contains an easy-to-use digital voice recorder, a pack of conversation-starting cards, and some local pictures from the not-so-recent past.  Interview someone and record precious memories with older family and friends.  And, if you’d like, you can share the digital recording with the library to add to our Local History collection.

Portable Pass-through Scanner

Finally getting around to sorting through totes of old pictures? Want to digitize copies of photos or documents to share with friends and families? Making a digital back-up of all your important documents? 
Take home this scanner – you don’t need to have a computer at home. Plug in a memory stick (provide your own or borrow one from the library), select the settings on the scanner, and run your photos or papers through the slot on the scanner.  

 

American Girl – Josefina

Josefina is an American Girl doll. She was born in New Mexico in the 1800s. She travels inside her pink suitcase with her fold-out bed, a set of pajamas, a book, and a journal so you can write about your adventures with her.

Japanese Origami Kit

This kit comes in a little plastic envelope with a book full of traditional Japanese Origami designs (and a DVD to follow along), a stack of origami papers, and a few Japanese treats! Return the envelope, book, and DVD. The paper and snacks are yours to keep!
